Get ready for some high-octane action! In a thrilling development, Chaz Mostert's Walkinshaw TWG Racing team is gearing up for an intense rivalry with Ford and GM at Queensland Raceway. But here's the twist: they're not alone!
The iconic #1 Toyota Supra is sharing the track with two formidable Triple Eight Mustangs and a Matt Stone Racing Camaro, creating a spectacle for racing enthusiasts. This exciting encounter serves a dual purpose: a crucial shakedown for Mostert's Toyota and the Triple Eight Fords, and an engine parity test for Supercars before the highly anticipated Sydney 500.
Mostert, thrilled to be behind the wheel of his 2026 race car, expressed his excitement after driving the team's first Supra during tests at Winton and Sydney Motorsport Park last year. The team's hard work is paying off, as they were granted multiple test days in 2025 for engine mileage and can now fine-tune their Supras during the shakedown.
The Supercars season kicks off with a pre-season test on February 18 at Sydney Motorsport Park, followed by the adrenaline-pumping three-day Sydney 500 event starting on the 20th. Mostert, striking a balance with the Walkinshaw team, will proudly display the #1 on his car, but not on his race suit and apparel.
"The car is a beauty, and it's a joy to drive," said Mostert, reflecting on his recent test drives. "We're fine-tuning the final touches, and our sights are set on SMP. We're eager to find our sweet spot with the setup and can't wait for the test day before the race."
This season promises to be a thrilling ride, and Mostert is ready to make his mark as a factory Toyota driver. And this is the part most people miss: will the Toyota Supra dominate the track, or will the Mustangs and Camaro steal the show? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for the upcoming races and join the debate in the comments!
